Trusts and Probate: Experienced Lawyers
Serving the Detroit Area and Southeast Michigan
It is an honor to be named the personal representative of someone’s estate or a trustee. It may also feel like a confusing and overwhelming task that you are ill-prepared to carry out while still grieving.
At Resnick Law, P.C., we can help. We can explain how the process works, what your responsibilities are and whatever else you might have questions or concerns about. And if for some reason we cannot — rest assured that we will do what it takes to find out and give you an answer in short order. To arrange for an initial consultation, call us at 248-642-5400 or contact us online.
Michigan’s probate laws are not harsh and the process itself is fairly straightforward. Our attorneys manage the process of inventorying assets, paying debts, distributing assets and closing the estate for clients — and also provide guidance to individuals who have been designated as personal representatives (executors) of estates.
Trust administration is similar to probate administration in that the trustee is responsible for managing the assets held in trust and for distributing assets to beneficiaries. Both processes require meticulous attention to detail and integrity. Our firm has been relied on to provide these services by its own clients, and by clients referred to us from other attorneys. In addition, we offer guidance to trustees charged with managing and distributing the assets of various types of trusts, including:
- Special needs trusts
- AB trusts (marital trusts)
- Credit shelter trusts
- Irrevocable life insurance trusts
- Charitable remainder trusts
- Bypass trusts
Probate and Trust Litigation

At Resnick Law, our attorneys represent clients on all sides of the issues: spouses, children, named beneficiaries, would-be heirs, out-of-state clients, personal representatives, trustees and others as well. We also handle a full range of disputes, including will contests, contested guardianships and conservatorships, trust litigation and claims involving fiduciary misconduct.
